What did I do today to improve myself?

This is a question I try to ask myself each day. Some days I am proud of my response, while other days I realize I could have done more. Self-improvement has different meanings to different people. For some, self-improvement may mean big successes on the job, while others may want to improve how they respond to their spouse. Whatever your self-improvement is, make sure you strive to take some kind of action, big or small, toward improving yourself each day.

This poem is one of my favorites for motivation and believing in yourself.

The Man Who Thinks He Can

By Walter D. Wintle

If you think you are beaten, you are;

       If you think that you dare not, you don’t.

If you’d like to win, but you think you can’t,

       It’s almost certain that you won’t.

If you think you’ll lose, you’ve lost;

       For out in the world you’ll find

Success begins with a fellow’s will;

       It’s all in the state of mind.

If you think that you are out-classed, you are;

       You’ve got to think high to rise.

You’ve got to be sure of yourself before

       You can ever win a prize.

Life’s battles don’t always go

       To the stronger or faster man;

But sooner or later, the man who wins

       Is the man who thinks he can!
